I just read a meme that said 'the best thing about switching to daylight savings time is you lose an hour of rain', and that has certainly been true this year! Luckily, having been raised in England I am practically waterproof and used to the pleasures of animal care in the mud!
I had two clients this past weekend, one has 6 dogs and I was taking care of 5 of them. She lives in a beautiful farm setting which I am sure is idyllic in the sunshine. However, it had snowed the day before, and it hasn't stopped raining since July so her yard right now is more of a swamp. I arrive, greet the dogs, let them in the back yard to do their business, let them back in and then spend the next half hour on my hands and knees wiping 5 sets of muddy pawprints from the lovely white tile floor. I then read the note she has left for me on the counter - 'I usually close the door to the laundry room when they go outside so I can clean their paws off before they come back in the house'. Well darn. You can be sure the next time I let them out I made sure the door was closed! I have to say, even though I have mud in places I didn't realise mud could get, I really love my job!!
