I have the best job in the world!

I mean it, I LOVE my job! How many people can say that! Whether it is snuggling with pets while their owners are on holiday, training puppies, mucking out stalls or taking a dog for a midday walk, I love every single second.
This past two weeks I have taken care of 16 dogs, 11 cats, 5 horses, 2 guinea pigs, 2 birds and a fish. (not including my own animals!) It's been a busy couple weeks but I wouldn't change ay of it.
I also have the best clients!! They are all wonderful to work with and it makes me so happy that you trust me with your precious furbabies. Thank you all!!
My son took this photo of me when I asked him to hold my phone while I walked a puppy in the rain today. He said he had to take it as I looked so happy. I have to agree!!

Let's talk poop!

One of the services is offer is poop scooping. I know most people hate doing it, and so do I when it's raining or blowing a gale, or when 50% of the little doggy landmines contain things my dogs absolutely should not have eaten. But, with my wellies on and my earbuds blasting out some 70s pop rock, I actually find it very therapeutic!
Why not offer this to other people? I thought, especially with spring finally making an appearance. Most folks are probably like myself and have turned a blind eye to the poop build up over the last few months; with the weather we have been having it's the last thing you want to be doing. But now is the time to tackle it, and to do that, you need the right tools!
'Is it weird to be so excited?' I wondered as I admired the gleam and turd holding capacity of my latest purchase, this magnificent shovel and rake. Probably, but that's nothing new for me. After preserving the beauty of the shovel with a grocery bag, I quickly put it to the test. It worked remarkably well, clearing my yard of 3 months of doggy debris in about 20 minutes. 'Look at all the poop!' I cheerfully exclaimed to my family and a less than enthusiastic neighbour. 'I need to do this every day!' I haven't of course... But for the very reasonable price of $25 I can save you going though the trauma of Spring clean-up. I'll  even take the poop home with me for disposal!

Rain, Rain go away!

I just read a meme that said 'the best thing about switching to daylight savings time is you lose an hour of rain', and that has certainly been true this year!  Luckily, having been raised in England I am practically waterproof and used to the pleasures of animal care in the mud!
I had two clients this past weekend, one has 6 dogs and I was taking care of 5 of them. She lives in a beautiful farm setting which I am sure is idyllic in the sunshine. However, it had snowed the day before, and it hasn't stopped raining since July so her yard right now is more of a swamp. I arrive, greet the dogs, let them in the back yard to do their business, let them back in and then spend the next half hour on my hands and knees wiping 5 sets of muddy pawprints from the lovely white tile floor. I then read the note she has left for me on the counter - 'I usually close the door to the laundry room when they go outside so I can clean their paws off before they come back in the house'. Well darn. You can be sure the next time I let them out I made sure the door was closed! I have to say, even though I have mud in places I didn't realise mud could get, I really love my job!!
